Most domestic installations don’t need planning permission. There are a few exceptions, for example, listed buildings or charge points installed on a wall facing a road in some conservation areas. We’ll flag anything relevant during your survey.
A tethered charger comes with a cable already attached. An untethered one just has a socket, so you use your car’s own cable. We’ll help you pick based on how you’ll use it day to day.
As of 2026, the OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant no longer covers homeowners with off-street parking. It’s aimed at renters, flat owners (with landlord/freeholder permission), landlords installing for tenants, and businesses through the Workplace Charging Scheme.
